Structural Differences

The timing and structure for both tests are the same; they are both divided into four parts, (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking). There aren’t any differences between the Listening and Speaking sections. The main differences between the IELTS Academic and the General Training exams are in the Reading and Writing components of the exam.

The Reading raw score/band score conversions are slightly different between General and Academic IELTS. For an idea of the conversions, check the official IELTS scoring page.

There is also an unofficial but accurate online IELTS score calculator for the IELTS Academic or General test that can be found here.
